The benefits provided by the scheme from contributions collected from covered employees and their employers at the specified percentage of wages.

 

As per Current rates, covered employees contribute 1.75% of the wages to the ESIC and covered employers contribute 4.75% of the wages, payable to their employees. The state government also contribute 1/8th share cost of medical benefit.

FAQ

ESI Registration is the process by which every employer/factory and its every employee employed for wages is identified for the purpose of the Scheme and their individual records are set up for the benefits derived out of the scheme.

It is the statutory responsibility of the employer under Section 2A of the Act read with Regulation 10-B, to register their Factory/ Establishment under the ESI Act within 15 days from the date of its applicability to them.

Number of employees differ from state to state. In some states it is 10 employees and 20 employees in others.

Fill in the form and submit it to ESIC for registration on the official website. After verification, a registration number, a 17-digit unique identity will be provided to the organization. The ESI filings can be done once you receive the 17-digit number.

The ESIC scheme currently does not cover workers or employees earning more than Rs. 21,000 per month and in the case of persons with a disability, the maximum wage is capped at Rs. 25,000 per month.

ESI is a premium paid for medical benefits. If no benefit is obtained from it, there is no option available to withdraw amount from ESI Account.
